Land Stewardship
Good Stewards Make Good Neighbors
With over a mile of Gypsum Creek, a precious water resource, Brightwater understands the responsibilities of land stewardship and takes them seriously. That’s why Brightwater has chosen to restore every inch of its stream, returning it to
its pristine condition.
After 150 years of farming and mining commerce, Colorado’s rivers have endured economic consequences. Gypsum Creek was no exception. From cattle damage to over-irrigation, the stream was the perfect candidate for an improvement project. Under the guidance of the Division of Wildlife, Brightwater’s stretch of Gypsum Creek was transformed using an artful blend of large cottonwood logs, boulders, cobble and streamside planting.
Brightwater’s environmentally responsible stance is not only the right thing to do, it provides residents with distinct advantages. Among them, anglers will discover a stream teaming with 12-14 inch brown, rainbow and brook trout. With their natural habitat restored, the trout are free to thrive and offer you a rewarding fly-fishing experience.
